Restoring Principles: How Ninth Amendment Rights Are Key

The Declaration provides the basis for understanding the true origin, aim, and end of constitutional self-government. In this respect it deals first with the origin or principle that defines human nature. From this it derives the aim and end of the governments instituted by those who share that nature. Human nature is the work of the Creator, who is determined to preserve and sustain humanity. On account of this determination, it is incumbent upon each human individual, insofar as we are able, to preserve humanity in ourselves and as a whole. Continue reading

Secession, Sovereignty, and Salvation: Jefferson Lives!

We are a Rule of Law nation, born of the Enlightenment. We formed our federal government to work at the pleasure of Rule of Law States. We must remind ourselves (and the neo-federalists) that these laws were devised to protect a Sovereign People — by prohibiting the rule of unscrupulous men.

We must learn how to leverage our supreme laws and unalienable rights, effectively and enduringly. Learn to embrace State electoral politics. Learn to engage our State legislators, governors, and attorneys general. Learn how to petition through the courts, properly, and with critical mass. Continue reading

The Establishment Hates Nullification

The doctrines of nullification and secession led to a bloody civil war, Stepman tells us. Again, our author’s inability to entertain a thought other than what he read in some textbook somewhere impairs his reasoning. The idea of decentralism did not lead to a bloody civil war. The doctrine of centralization, the un-American doctrine of the one-and-indivisible Union – the doctrine, in other words, of the modern state – led to a bloody civil war. Continue reading
